Seaspan Corporation
Seaspan Corporation was formed to acquire all of the containership business of Seaspan Container Lines Limited (SCLL). The Company owns containerships, charter them pursuant to long-term, fixed-rate charters and seek additional accretive vessel acquisitions. It deploys all its vessels on long-term, fixed-rate time charters. The charters on the 10 vessels in its initial fleet have an average remaining initial term of 9.1 years. The Company has entered into a purchase agreement with certain of the VesselCos to acquire an additional 13 new containerships as they are completed and delivered, over approximately the next 25 months. The additional 13 containerships will consist of eleven 4250 twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) vessels and two 9600 TEU vessels. The contracted fleet will have approximately 116,900 TEU in total capacity. The Company's 8500 TEU vessels are capable of speeds of 25.9 knots on design drafts.
